Intro
As the founder of Happy Dog Days, Kate Boshold, I would like to share insight on why I created Happy Dog Days. I love animals and I would treat any animal like it’s my own but unfortunately not all places are so trustworthy. To explain what some people face today when using a PetCare service place, I’m going to tell a story.
Example
Carol is the owner of her dog Fluffy. She went on a trip to Florida for a few weeks, but she doesn’t have a place or someone to take care of her fluffy dog. Since fluffy is a long and curly haired dog, she needs regular grooming. She also is a puppy and needs plenty of exercise and training. Carol lives near downtown Knoxville and she struggles to find a boarding place that fits her needs close by. The place Carol finds doesn’t offer grooming or training services but that’s all that was around. As Carol arrives, she grows nervous since she has never sent any of her dogs to a boarding place before. She walks in and fills out any last-minute paperwork and leaves Fluffy.
After a relaxing week in Florida, Carol arrives home and picks up Fluffy. When she walks in, the staff seemed frustrated as they went and got Fluffy. Fluffy comes out and right away Carol becomes concerned. Fluffy did not seem like herself and she noticed her hair was matted from not being groomed. Carol becomes angry and asks the staff why Fluffy doesn’t seem like herself. The staff repeatedly said that Fluffy seemed fine and that she was acting normal but obviously something was not right with her. As Carol is concerned, she rushes Fluffy off to the vet. After an x-ray, they noticed an object in her stomach and began surgery on Fluffy since it has likely been in her body for a few days. After surgery, the vet comes in and explains that they have found a small rubber object in her stomach.
What did Carol do?
The next day, Carol calls the boarding place to see if she can get more information. The staff again denies the fact that Fluffy was not acting normal. They end up charging her the full amount which was over $800 just for a week. For the current market, this was overpriced.
On top of that, Fluffy began to feel better but she noticed that she began to bite more often than she had been. Carol has been working hard to correct this behavior in the past and she feels that all her hard work has gone out the door. Overall, Carol was very unhappy with her experience and would not recommend this place to anyone. She wished that they had offered training sessions and grooming to fit the needs of her and Fluffy.
Conclusion
This is exactly why I created Happy Dog Days. I want to make it convenient for customers to drop their pets off before they leave. In this story, Carol had to pay a lot of money for what she got. I don’t want anyone to have to feel like they have to pay more so their dog doesn’t get injured or sick. Another big part of Happy Dog Days is being accountable for mistakes unlike the staff members in the story.
